Finally bought a cheap mag base and made a ring to fit the video microscope. Very handy. In this case I am using it to visually chamfer both sides of a 0.37mm wide rib leaving roughly a 0.05mm flat in the center. This is the equivalent of a solid rule die to cut a foam ring with a 1.25" ID and 1.69" OD from 15mm thick material. Mapp gas turbo torch heat treat of the cutting ribs. I only care about the rib tips getting hard so as soon as they were visually hot enough I quench with an air blast until approximately below 500° F. Then temper to dark straw with the torch and letting it air cool to room temp. Arbor press to press the die through the foam against an aluminum block. These rings press into parts while doing porcelain ball burnishing in the vibratory finisher to prevent the balls from jamming up in the parts groove.
