[00:00.000 --> 00:05.720] I'm tearing down my gating tool setup that I shared before, and I thought I'd give a
[00:05.720 --> 00:13.720] little feedback on using the sticky back aluminum foil and the ethophobe on the
[00:13.720 --> 00:21.080] gating plate. In general it worked no problem, no staining of any major
[00:21.080 --> 00:27.000] consequence. Up here the ethophobe, where I didn't lube it, left a little bit of
[00:27.000 --> 00:32.440] rust from the ethophobe contact. And up here where I left some puckers, when I put the
[00:33.660 --> 00:38.220] foil down, left some superficial rust marks. So if you're going to do this, make
[00:38.220 --> 00:45.560] sure you get it down smooth without any gaps, and maybe leave a
[00:45.560 --> 00:49.000] light film of WD-40 on here that you just rub off so it's got a little bit of an
[00:49.000 --> 00:52.700] oil film. But other than that it worked good, and I certainly wouldn't leave it
[00:52.700 --> 00:58.480] on for any extended period of time, like more than a couple weeks. This has been on for, I think, two weeks.
Commentary in the audio on how the sticky back aluminum foil worked for shielding the gang plate on the lathe.
I am using a very high mineral oil content semi-synthetic coolant which inherently leaves a very nice oil film everywhere. If you're using something else I would be very cautious about the aluminum foil and rust.
