[00:00.000 --> 00:06.600] This used to be an 8 inch diameter D14 chuck mounting plate from CBCO, about 58 bucks.
[00:07.040 --> 00:08.840] Pretty decent quality for the price.
[00:09.420 --> 00:17.740] I'm making a new collet nose that will use a Dunham 4 degree taper with 5C collet internal.
[00:18.120 --> 00:22.800] Buying that purchased, hard and ready to go, and this is going to be the adapter
[00:22.800 --> 00:23.720] that I use it with.
[00:24.440 --> 00:31.660] With my 1500 RPM max pulley setup, I was able to turn that 8 inch diameter at 40 thousandths
[00:31.660 --> 00:37.960] radial depth of cut, 6 thousandths feet per revolution at 600 surface feet, until I got
[00:37.960 --> 00:44.740] down to 6, and then I bumped it up to 50 thousandths radial depth of cut, 7 thousandths
[00:44.740 --> 00:49.260] feet per revolution, still 600 surface feet per minute, and it made it through.
[00:49.260 --> 00:54.280] One of the reasons I picked this lathe was because of its versatility and large capacity.
Description in audio. First piece of a new collet nose that will have the Hardinge 4° taper mount. I needed to make this to be able to use my larger collets that need the external closer rings. For light-duty work I also will be able to mount my 4° taper chucks on this nose for a quick change over without removing the collet nose. I purchased the Dunham 4° 5C nosepiece for a very reasonable $399.00. Now I need to make the adapter ring that has the Buck Chuck screws that will allow tweaking the collet or nose Tir.
